It has become a tradition in Adventist Vegetarian Diabetics to join The 30-day Richard Osborn Challenge every May! The Challenge is to see how close you can get to 10,000 steps a day, 7 days a week. Richard lived in San Francisco for several years after his retirement as president of Pacific Union College. When he found out he had diabetes, he practiced walking every day, a minimum of 10,000 steps and often more. He has just turned 75 and is still walking!
Note to members in wheelchairs or otherwise mobility-impaired: If you cannot walk, please go outdoors every day and move around in the sunshine and fresh air. Now that the weather is getting warmer and the rainy season is pretty much over (in California) and the days are longer, there’s no excuse for sitting inside all day!
