There is a lot of conflicting information about what causes heart disease and what the best diet is to prevent heart disease.

One world-renowned surgeon says this: “The injury and inflammation in our blood vessels is caused by the low-fat diet recommended for years by mainstream medicine.

“What are the biggest culprits of chronic inflammation? Quite simply, they are the overload of simple, highly processed carbohydrates (sugar, flour, and all the products made from them) and the excess consumption of omega-6 vegetable oils like soybean, corn, and sunflower that are found in many processed foods.”

Health writer Chris Kresser has written a series of articles on “how to prevent and reverse heart disease naturally” which focuses on heart-healthy eating, physical movement, sleep, and stress management, much the same as preventing/reversing diabetes.
Because I do not have cardiovascular disease, I cannot speak from experience on this topic. So I encourage you to study the scientific peer-reviewed literature and come to your own conclusions.

One such article titled, “Saturated fat does not clog the arteries: coronary heart disease is a chronic inflammatory condition, the risk of which can be effectively reduced from healthy lifestyle interventions,” concludes: “Combining a complete lifestyle approach of a healthful diet, regular movement, and stress reduction will improve quality of life, reduce cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.”
