Did you know that July is National Blueberry Month?! This is great news for diabetics, as blueberries are a good food for diabetics, regardless of your dietary preference or diabetes dietary protocol. Just be sure to practice portion control. A serving of blueberries for a diabetic is 1/4 cup. Sometimes I just count out 17 blueberries. Whatever you do, please enjoy this wonderful anti-oxidant fruit in July!
Goal: To replace higher-carb fruit—and especially any high-sugar foods—with blueberries (and other berries).
Enjoy fresh, organic blueberries (preferably locally grown) in an amount that meets your dietary protocol for carbohydrates.
Sponsored by the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council, an agriculture promotion group made up of blueberry farmers, processors, and importers in North and South America, who work together to research, innovate, and promote the fruits of their labors as well as the growth and well-being of the entire blueberry industry.
