After Thanksgiving

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you maintain your diabetes dietary protocols? Or is Thanksgiving the one day of the year that you totally give up on your goals and give in to your appetite? Regardless of what you did (or didn’t do), the week after Thanksgiving is an excellent time to check up on your exercise routine. To maintain (or renew) your personal exercise practices that will be beneficial to your diabetic health.

By November (in the Northern Hemisphere), weather is generally cooler, with rain and/or snow in many places, and very discouraging for walking/exercising outdoors. This does not mean you have to stop exercising! And, caught in the throes of winter holidays (from Halloween through New Year’s), it’s more important than ever to keep up with a consistent exercise program. Options include:

  • Mall walking
  • Gym
  • Dance classes
  • In-home exercise
    • With equipment
    • Without equipment
